Four Jerseys

The Cupola gallery in Hillsborough, Sheffield, announced they had a large external wall that could be painted, so I got straight in touch. After a meeting we decided a mural celebrating the ‘Tour de France’ passing through Sheffield would be perfect as the route came very close to the wall itself. I set out designing and came up with the four cyclist figures to represent the four main jersey types. The only way to repeat these would be to cut a huge stencil. This proved quite the challenge to spray as the wall was heavily eroded sandstone. The gradient effect on the wall to the right, representing the hills of Yorkshire, was a new venture and I’m looking forward to exploring this further. This was the first publicly viewable wall I’ve painted and I’m overwhelmed by all the positive feedback I’ve received. It was even featured on the regional news! Many thanks to Karen and Graham at the gallery for the opportunity.
